The Cherwell Singers

The Cherwell Singers are an Oxford-based chamber choir, founded in 1977. We sing all types of music from the late Middle Ages to the present day - including mainstays of the choral repertoire and lesser-known, even obscure, works. We place a high value on musicianship, aiming to perform to a consistently high standard.

Recent performances include: Mozart, Requiem; Bach, B minor mass; Brahms, Ein Deutsches Requiem; Martin, Mass for Double Choir; and Verdi, Stabat Mater.

We give three public concerts per year in central Oxford, and also perform at private functions, including conferences and weddings.

Over the past few years we have pursued a policy of offering the proceeds of some major concerts to support a charity with some connection to the choir: Amnesty International, the British Dyslexia Association, The Samaritans, Oxfam and The National Autistic Society have been beneficiaries. Also we do a regular Christmas carol singing collection, which we donate to the Archway Foundation in Oxford.
